Basic Information


  • Goiás is the 7th largest state in the country of Brazil, having a total of 340,086 km2
  • As of July of 2017, the state boasts a population of 6,778,772, making it the 17th most populated state in Brasil
  • Goiás' capital is Goiânia, located almost dead center of Goiás

Geography

The Black River
  • The entire state of Goiás is located on a plateau, barely 700 to 900 meters about sea-level, as such, many rivers flow through the state, draining the water, including:
    • The Black River 
    • The Paranaíba River
    • The São Francisco River
    • The Araguaia River 
    • The Coumbá River


  • Goiás also has many waterfalls, many of which are confined in Chapada dos Veadeiros National park, ranging from 80 to 120 feet, including 
    • The Corredeiras
    • Cannyon I
    • Cannyon II
    • The Carioquinhas 
    • O Jadrim de Maitreya
  • And as the images show, Goiás is also filled with lush and vibrant campo cerrado, as the locals dub it

Locations of Interest

  • Like any place, Goiás also has many tourist attractions that extend beyond natural phenomena, inlcuding
    • Hot Park, a water park in Rio Quente, Goiás well reknown in the region, as the best water park, in their own website, and on TripAdvisor
    • Parque Vaca Brava, a beautiful park located in the capital of the state
    • The Historic Center of Goiás, lined with beautiful and antique architecture 

Music

  • The state of Goiás isn't a hub of music or the birthplace of a genre, but it definitely was the birthplace for a handful of musicians
 Amado Batista

  • Amando Batista is a singer/guitarist with 43 albums under his name in his 50 year long career. 
  • He is a alternative pop artist, with a musical library large enough to cover decades of listeners

Basic Information

  • Mato Grosso is the 3rd largest state in the country of Brazil, having a total of 903,357 km2
  • As of July of 2018, the state boasts a population of 3,441,998, making it the 17th largest state in Brasil
  • Mato Grosso's capital is Cuiaba, located in the south of the state
  • The name translates to Thick Forest, in Portuguese

Geography

Chapada dos Guimaraes
  • Much like Goiás, Mato Grosso is also located in a beautiful natural phenomena, the Chapada dos Guimaraes in Mato Grosso's case
  • Chapada dos Guimarares is described as a collection of sandstone mountains that have eroded in such a way to form amazing and breathtaking patterns 
  • Mato Grosso also contains Pantanal, which is the worlds currently largest tropical wetland. It is so big that it also extends into Bolivia and Paraguey, but a large majority of it is in Mato Grosso

Locations of Interest

  • Most of the locations of interest in Mato Grosso are also natural phenomena, including the two previously mentioned, but on top of that, they also boast
    • Alta Floresta, which is famous for its fishing location and large variety of fauna, specifically birds 
    • Aguas Quentes State Park, filled with limestone caves with unusual cave formations and pools of amazingly blue water. It also has many waterfalls, including Salgadeira and Andorinha

Music

  • Much like Goiás, not much was born or created in Mato Grosso, but it does have two noticeable acts, Vanessa da Mata and Vanguart

  • Vanessa da Mata is a Latin Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and also, novelist
  • She makes samba, pop, R&B, and M.P.B (Música popular brasileira, which is described as a trend in post-bossa nova urban popular music...combined with jazz and rock)
  • She has made soundtracks to various Brazilian telenovelas, like Cama de Gato, Belissima, & A Lua me Disse
